Children's Program

Ages 6 - 13

Beginner to Pre-professional

Level I Program (Ages 6 - 7)

Level I Ballet

Ages 6 - 7

Instructor - Arielle Stuehrk

 

Students will be introduced to Ballet.  Emphasis will be placed on following intructions, spacial awareness, and Ballet terminology all while learning dance technique in a relaxed and creative environment.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts. Skirts and tutus are acceptable. Dancers should have ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled back off of face and secured in a bun.

 

Level I Jazz

Ages 6 -7

Instructor - Arielle Stuehrk

 

Students will be introduced to Jazz.  Dancers will learn basic Jazz  technique, memorization skills, and the art of performance.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  Dancers will need  black jazz shoes.  Hair should be pulled back off of face.

 

Level I Tap

Ages 6 - 7

Instructor - Cierra Aguilera

 

Students will be introduced to Tap training.  Emphasis will be placed on following intructions, spacial awareness, and Tap terminology all while learning dance technique in a relaxed and creative environment.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts. Dancers should have tap shoes. Hair should be pulled back off of face.

Level II Program Ages (8 - 10)

Level II Ballet

Ages 8 - 10

Instructor - Sara Chase

 

Students will continue their Ballet training.  Emphasis will be placed on posture, following intructions, spacial awareness, and Ballet terminology all while learning dance technique in a relaxed and creative environment.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts. Skirts and tutus are acceptable. Dancers should have ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled back off of face and secured in a bun.

 

Level II Jazz

Ages 8 - 10

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  Dancers will need black jazz shoes.  Hair should be pulled back off of face.

Level III Program (Ages 9 - 12)

Ages 9 - 12

Students will continue their Ballet training.  New technique will introduced all while maintaining previous training in posture, following intructions, spacial awareness, and Ballet terminology. Students will build a large dance vocabulary and are encouraged to join a performance company to learn the art of professional dance.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have ballet shoes in their skin tone and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured.  Ballet skirts are acceptable with leotards and tights.

 

Level III Pointe

Ages 10 - 12

Instructor - Sara Chase

 

Students will advance in their Ballet training with pointe work.  Emphasis will be placed on proper technique of posture, legs, ankles, feet, rotation and exactitude.  Dancers will be encouraged to work in a professional manner and will learn respect of the art of pointe work.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have ballet shoes in their skin tone (until they have been permission to dance in pointe shoes) and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured.  Ballet skirts are acceptable with leotards and tights.

 

Level III Jazz

Ages 9 - 12

Instructor - Sara Chase

 

Students will continue their Jazz training.  Dancers will learn secondary Jazz  technique, memorization skills, strength, flexibility and the art of performance.  Students will be intorduced to various styles of Jazz including Fosse, Contemporary and Classic.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have jazz shoes in either black or tan  and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured. 

 

Level III Modern

Ages 9 - 12

Intructor - Arielle Stuehrk

 

Students will continue their overall dance training with an introduction to modern.  Dancers will learn basic modern technique and will be given modern dance history.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have bare feet and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured. 

 

Level III Contemporary

Ages 9 - 12

Instructor - Arielle Stuehrk

 

Students will learn contemporary dance movement and technique.  Emphasis will be placed on lines, core and music interpretation.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students may wear ballet shoes, socks or  have bare feet and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured. 

 

Level III Tap

Ages 9 - 12

Instructor - Morgan Summers

 

Students will continue their Tap training.  Dancers will expand their tap vocabulary and will start learning combos and rhythm.  Emphasis will be placed on following intructions, spacial awareness, and Tap terminology all while learning dance technique in a relaxed and creative environment.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have tap shoes in black and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured.

 

Level III Hip Hop

Ages 9 - 12

Instructor - Ashley Brown

 

Students will continue their Hip Hop training.  Dancers will learn secondary Hip Hop technique, memorization skills, and the art of performance.

 

Students should wear loose comfortable clothing.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have sneakers or boots and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured.

Level IV Program (Ages 10 - 13)

Level IV Ballet

Ages 10 - 13

Instructor - Sara Chase

 

Students will continue their Ballet training.  New technique will introduced all while maintaining previous training in posture, following intructions, spacial awareness, and Ballet terminology. Students will build a large dance vocabulary and are encouraged to join a performance company to learn the art of professional dance.  Dancers will be encouraged to maintain a healthy diet and may be invited to take additional Ballet classes with the upper level students.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have ballet shoes in their skin tone and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured.  Ballet skirts are acceptable with leotards and tights.

 

Level IV Pointe

Ages 10 - 13

Instructor - Sara Chase

 

Students will advance in their Ballet training with pointe work.  Emphasis will be placed on proper technique of posture, legs, ankles, feet, rotation and exactitude.  Students will begin to learn to use their pointe shoes as an extension of their feet and legs rather than an apparatus.  Dancers will be encouraged to work in a professional manner and will learn respect of the art of pointe work.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have pointe shoes in their skin tone and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured.  Ballet skirts are acceptable with leotards and tights.

 

Level IV Jazz

Ages 10 - 13

Instructor - Sara Chase

 

Students will continue their Jazz training.  Dancers will learn intermediate level Jazz  technique, memorization skills, strength, flexibility and the art of performance.  Students will continue to learn the various styles of Jazz including Fosse, Broadway, Contemporary and Classic.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have jazz shoes in either black or tan  and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured.  Dancers are encouraged to have character shoes in their dance bags, as sometimes they are needed for Fosse style or Broadway style classes.

 
 

Level IV  Modern

Ages 10 - 13

Instructor - Arielle Stuehrk

 

Students will continue to build a strong pre-professional foundation with their Modern class.  Dancers will learn intermediate level modern technique and will be given modern dance history.

 

Students should wear a leotard and tights or biker shorts.  GPC company members should wear their division colors.  Students must have bare feet and should not wear jewelry to class (small stud earrings are acceptable).  Hair must be slicked back and secured. 

 

Level IV Contemporary

Ages 10 - 13

Instructor - Sara Chase

Studio News

Welcome to the 2017 - 2018 Axis Dance Season!   Our Fall Semester has begun.   We have classes for every age and ability level.  Our age brackets include Twinkle Toes classes for those 2 1/2 to 4 years old, the children's programs ages 5 yrs to 12 yrs, the teen program ages 13 +, and our adult program ages 18 +.  We offer ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern and hip hop in beginner to advanced levels.  In the mood for something new and different?  Come try out an Aerial Silks class. In addition, we have fitness classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays! 

 

Axis Dance provides after school pick up services.
